The one and only
Lucybear

WHO

Lucybear | Who is she?

She is a feisty Pekingese puppy who is a faithful and fierce protector. I adopted her from a shelter when she was three years old, and she just celebrated her eleventh birthday! We have been inseparable ever since I was lucky enough for her to come into my life, and although she has calmed down a bit from her youth she is still as spunky and opinionated as ever!

Where

Animal Shelters | Rescue vs Designer Dogs

I got her from an animal shelter shortly before Christmas and she has turned out to be the best present I have ever gotten! I strongly believe in adoption from animal shelters rather than buying from pet stores or breeders because so many animals need loving homes. Over a millions dogs and cats are killed each year because they cannot find homes. Many breeders use unethical practices like overbreeding and taking puppies away from their mothers too early. The desire for purebreds and specific cross-breeds (like Goldendoodles or “teacup” dogs) fuels illegititmate breeders and poorly bred dogs with genetic problems.

She needs a home!

WHAT

Lucybear | What does she like?

She loves longs walks on the beach, getting her belly rubbed, eating watermelon, barking at strangers, chewing on her stuffed animals’ faces, chasing mailmen, attacking German Shepherds, biting ankles and feet, protecting women and children everywhere, and parmesan cheese.

Lucy’s face after she got to chase the mailman and the UPS guy (don’t worry, no mail carriers were harmed in the making of this picture.)

WHY

Pets | Why adopt a pet?

If you have the time to devote to pets, they can bring happiness and unconditional love to enrich your life. Many studies show that people with pets may live longer and be happier. Also pets become part of the family and give you something to talk about at the dinner table!

Best friends!
